Plans to Meet Individual Needs
With the implementation of Dean
Health Plan’s (DHP’s) six individual
plans, coverage for adult
dependents has been extended.
Under these plans, dependents
are covered until the end of the
year they turn age 19. If they
are full-time students, they can
remain on the policy until the
end of the year they turn age 23
or when they cease to be fulltime
students, whichever is first.
For covered dependents age 19 or older, DHP will send out a full-time-student questionnaire requesting simple information to determine eligibility for the following year. By definition, DHP considers a dependent a full-time student if he or she is attending an accredited school and considered to have full-time status by that establishment. Once that has been established, coverage remains the same through the end of the calendar year in which eligibility has been established.
