Medicare Hints for You

Dean Health Plan (DHP) would like to remind our Medicare-eligible members that if you contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) or Medicare to inquire about enrollment in Medicare Part A or Part B, you need to ensure that the correct work status (active or inactive) is given to these organizations. This information can be obtained through your employer and is an important factor in determining who will be the primary payer of your claims. It is important to know that benefits are coordinated based on the work status of the subscriber (spouse, mother, father, etc.) and that this information can make the difference to you receiving correct enrollment information from the SSA or Medicare. If the SSA or Medicare has incorrect information, you could be responsible for out-ofpocket costs.
